FAMILY VIOLENCENative Child and Family Services offers support to women, children and men to aid in the prevention of and healing from abusive relationships. If you are an abused woman, please click here for information and resources. Programs include: Women’s Empowerment CircleEmpowerment Circle sessions are a safe opportunity to be with other women who have experienced or are experiencing various forms of abuse in their relationships. The program is also open to women who lack self-esteem and need a social network. Participants explore the impact of their relationships, help each other on their healing paths, and work towards becoming self-supporting. Traditional and mainstream approaches include ceremonies and teachings honouring womanhood. Sessions include:
Child care, TTC and dinner are provided. You do not have to leave the relationship to attend. For more information about the Women’s Empowerment Circle, call 416.969.8510.Here to HelpHere to Help is a group program that provides a safe and supportive environment for children aged 4 to 16 and their mothers who live in families where abuse has occurred. Kids exposed to aggressive fighting between their parents may learn that this is the only way to solve problems, deal with frustration and have their needs met. To stop the cycle of violence, children need the opportunity to talk about what they are experiencing at home. Through Here to Help, both kids and moms are supported in their healing from the impact of woman abuse. There is no charge for this program. Transportation costs, childcare for children under 4, and a hot meal are provided. Here to Help is offered in partnership with Jewish Family & Child, the Child Development Institute, Yorktown Family Services, YWCA Toronto, and Centre francophone de Toronto.
