Journey of the Peaceful Warrior

This program is based on the Aboriginal holistic approach to healing and wellness, and addresses the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects of participants in a manner consistent with Aboriginal teachings.

Men will learn how to accept responsibility for self-change and gain greater control over their lives. The program delivers Aboriginal teachings, traditions and culture in the context of the loss of Native spirituality, self-identity and self-esteem of the participants.

PAR – Partner Assault Response Program

Ishkode Winini (Fire Keepers) Circle

The PAR Program is a court-mandated program for men who have been brought before the courts due to their abusive or violent behaviour.

Weekly sessions incorporate traditional teachings and cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • The cycle of violence

  • Power, control and equality

  • Accountability, excuses for behaviour

  • Awareness of feelings

  • The effects of family violence; children who have witnessed violence

  • Good communication, active listening

  • Grief and loss; rites of passage

  • Healing
